Nancy Klingman has been one of the best role models for me. She helped me discover a passion and talent that I would have barely used without her. Her teaching is thoughtful and instructive. She always knows what to say. I am so glad I found her as soon as I did because she has changed my life.

Not only has Nancy Klingman been an amazing voice teacher to me these past few years, but she has been one of the most positive influences in my life. In addition to helping me apply to colleges in Voice, she went above and beyond in helping me do piano recordings too. Nancy was a cheerleader throughout the entire process and throughout my high school career. She cares for her students, but she’s always there to help everyone regardless of studio. She has the biggest heart of anyone I know and she has always been in my corner. She’s made me feel like family. I appreciate everything Nancy has done for me. I’ll hold my time in her voice studio close to my heart as I go off to college.

Nancy Klingman is a voice teacher and musician of exceptional ability. She has trained and sung with some of the most notable singers and teachers anywhere. Her understanding of the physiology and anatomy of vocal production, selection of vocal exercises, singing techniques, understanding of phrasing and breathing, selection of repertoire, intuitive understanding of when and how to motivate each particular student, knowledge of accurate diction and pronunciation (whether in English, German, Italian, Latin, French or whatever) is way beyond acceptable...she is phenomenal. I was encouraged to train with her a few years ago when I was going to audition for a major solo with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra. She diligently worked with me for several months. With serious competition for this coveted role, I successfully won the part. I thank Nancy Klingman for preparing me!

I came to Nancy for a little vocal coaching to help me land better roles in community theaters. What I got was professional, classical voice training catered to my specific needs as a 15 year old with a musical background, minimal music theory, and a crippling fear of failure.
Nancy will meet you where you are at vocally and personally while still encouraging you to do better and try new things. The first thing she taught me was to laugh at my mistakes and move on and that lesson has changed everything for me.
I’m 21 now and I still leave every lesson having a better day than I was when I went in. I cantor professionally and the comment I hear most often is “I didn’t know someone so small could fill a room like that”. Nancy did that for me. She has made a huge impact on me as a singer and a person and I am very grateful to her.

Ms. Nancy not only teaches singing, but vocal health. She worked with me specifically on this after I lost my voice teaching school several years ago. I am able to speak and sing today because of Klingman Voice Studio.
Do this for yourself. Your voice will thank you.

I’m so glad I found Nancy as a vocal teacher. After the past few years of not being in touch with my voice, I was looking for someone with great expertise, yet someone who is kind and a joy to be around. Nancy is just this! My vocal technique and confidence has greatly improved with her teaching. I’m very grateful for her!”

Nancy is one of those unusual combinations of a highly experienced professional who is also a delight to work with. I walk away from each lesson with a new “aha” moment that moves me forward. I came to her after a lifelong avocation in choral singing, and she is helping me unleash my solo voice. Somehow I had gotten started as a low bass but now am delighting to a whole new world above Middle C as a high tenor. In my senior years I find myself growing into solo work, including an occasional operatic comprimario part. Nancy has a true command, not only of voice care and development at all ages, but of vocal literature, several languages, and the whole culture of classical and theater singing. Going the extra mile, she arranges regular recitals which she has videotaped for review, to keep her students developing not only our voices but our comfort with the full experience of singing before audiences.

In addition to the truths mentioned above, Nancy helps you build confidence in your vocal skills. She also connects you with opportunities to use those skills in the community, for which I will be forever grateful.

Nancy has been a wonderful teacher for me. I dreamt of becoming a member of the Spokane Symphony Chorale, and after a failed audition years ago, was recommended to her as someone who could help me with my confidence as well as my singing and sight-reading. After a year of her teaching I auditioned and was accepted into the Chorale on the condition that I keep taking lessons from her. Nancy is extremely patient and encouraging, and is highly regarded in the Spokane community. She is also FUN and she understands when life gets in the way of practicing at times. (Though it is always better to be prepared!) I hope to continue taking lessons from Nancy for many years to come.

Prior to studying with Nancy Klingman, I tried online training and videos. It took me a while to decide that in- person voice lessons might help. However, once I got in there my doubts were completely over. She has taught me techniques that I really thought only belonged to people with a natural ability to sing. I've found they're techniques that can be used in any type of singing and most importantly they can be learned. What attracted me to Nancy's classes originally was her classical training and performance background. Her prices were competitive even when the comparison was with other peoples' online prices. She was the only one that responded when it came to my intake forms because
1. I didn't know if I wanted to take more than one lesson.
2. I only wanted to do half hour lessons.
3. I am somewhat introverted.
I've stuck with Nancy because I've learned something each time I go to class. I'm able to sing notes that I thought were not possible for me. The resonance in my sound has become wonderfully colorful. She teaches out of her own home studio. It is a comfortable environment where I can sing and practice. She gives me the tools, encouragement, correction, and confidence that we all need to thrive. After studying with Nancy for several months, I encouraged my wife to start lessons, since we perform together with our Ukuleles. We have really progressed and enjoyed learning to sing harmonies as well.
This is the teacher you've been looking for. Learn how to use and care for your most available, complex musical instrument, your voice!

I always wished I could sing better, just for my own enjoyment. Finally, as an adult, I decided to make my wish a reality and take voice lessons. I had no idea it would be so much fun! Nancy put me at ease from the very beginning and we laugh our way through almost every lesson. Her instruction is kind while challenging me to continually improve. My voice has risen to heights I never would have thought possible. It is a joy and honor to be one of her students and I hope to continue studying with her for many more years.

I have worked on my singing with Nancy for four years, since I was 64. I had no idea of the complexities of making a quality sound. Nancy’s ability to coach the physical aspects of breath, resonance, and articulation have made a huge difference for me. I hope to continue with her for years to come, just for the challenge and the joy of it.
